Tests ordered by your GP

When you attend for a test of any kind you will be told how long you should expect to wait for the results - this is usually 5-7 days.

Your GP, or health care professional, may ask you to book a follow up appointment at your initial consultation.

If the results need discussing further you may be contacted by the surgery, via phone or SMS, if the doctor feels that they wish to review you again.

Results are available online via the NHS App or Patient Access.

Please only contact reception for your results if you are unable to utilise these digital means or if you cannot access see these  results online after sufficient time has elapsed, usually 5 - 7 working days.

Our reception staff are not qualified to interpret the results other than to advise you that they have been seen by the doctor and any comments that may have been made by your GP.  Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.

Tests ordered by the hospital

Please follow the advice of the requesting hospital specialist about how to access your hospital results. If you have not heard from the hospital in the expected timeframe then please follow up with your hospital specialist.
